Although it's the green way to go, public transportation is not for everyone. This week, Big Blue busses of Santa Monica, California gave the boot to ads featuring bikini-wearing Tyra Banks and friends. Director of transit services Stephanie Negriff said, "It's a matter of public taste. We try to be sensitive to the community." In keeping with a policy of sensitivity, Negriff specified that Banks looked good and certainly did not look comparable to the bus in size.
Orlando Bloom is building an extremely energy efficient green home for himself in London. Bloom says of the new home, "It's as green as I can make it. It's got solar panels on the roof, energy efficient light bulbs - newer technology basically that is environmentally friendly. It might not be possible for everyone to live a completely green lifestyle," but, he added, if you're incredibly good-looking, rich, and dating Penelope Cruz, you don't have much of an excuse not to.
The City of Malibu, home of eco-activists Ted Danson, Tom Hanks, and Pierce Brosnan, is looking into waiving building permit fees for homes that meet certain environmental criteria. This comes as a huge sigh of relief to those of us who would have no problem paying for a new house in Malibu if it weren't for all those pesky permit fees.

Conservative critics are up in arms over Al Gore's home electric bill, which is apparently on the large size. Although Gore offsets more than his entire professional and personal carbon footprint through energy funds and, some would argue, his work in the fight against global warming, some news outlets are outraged by the apparent hypocrisy. Media analysts predict that Gore will continue to use electricity until he generates enough right wing hate-filled cynicism to heat his home and run his PowerPoint presentation.
