Osama bin Laden Speaks Out For Environment. Seriously.
Posted by Joshua W. Jackson on September 14, 2007 - 6:14am.

Who's the latest famous person to embrace the eco-craze? Why, it's none other than internationally recognized mass murderer Osama bin Laden! The terrorist criticized the Bush Administration's failure to take part in the Kyoto Protocol in a video statement recently, saying, "...The life of all mankind is in danger because of the global warming resulting to a large degree from the emissions of... factories..." While millions of American parents tried to explain that a Bad Man can sometimes say true things, President Bush felt ever more justified in his actions against the planet. Elsewhere, trendsetters have started the search for a new cause, now that the green movement is so widespread it's reached under a rock in a cave somewhere along the Pakistan/ Afghanistan border.

Tyra Banks' America's Next Top Model is going green next season, it was reported this week. Not only will energy conservation be stressed in the household, but the show will rely on a car that runs on biodiesel, and insiders report that organic, locally grown foods are to be served in the meals the girls will pretend to eat.

Oprah Winfrey's been called a lot of things, but never an enemy to animals. On Monday a rumor surfaced that her pet dogs may inherit 30 million dollars if they outlive her. Tuesday, the canines spent four hours sharpening their teeth and four more thinking of a way to make it look like an accident.

Early in the week, Willie Nelson, Daryl Hannah, and Woody Harrelson gathered at a fund raising event for the Sustainable Biodiesel Alliance at the Times Square Hard Rock Cafe. Also in attendence were Rosie Perez, Kate Spade, and Steven Colbert, proving once and for all that biodiesel isn't just for stoned country singers, radical treesitters, and oxygen bar owners. (It's also for movie stars, fashion icons, and fake newscasters.)

In the beginning of September it was announced that Spike Lee will head a jury of an online film festival that will include a category for environmental and socially conscious films. While some of the young entrants will cater to Lee's softer side by building scripts around his favorite green causes, the smartest will no doubt make a sci-fi movie in which the threatened planet is saved at the last possible second by the New York Knicks.

Lime Has Been Soured

In reference to the article on Osma Bin Laden, I have this to say.

Notwithstanding the fact that we in the U.S. should take part in the Kyoto Protocal, I would argue that the life of many on this planet are in danger because of Osma Bin Laden.  I think lime.com greatly soured itself by even gracing our pages with a quote from such a hateful, destructive human being.

For crying out loud... they used the terms "internationally recognized mass murderer" and "Bad Man" who lives "under a rock in a cave somewhere along the Pakistan/ Afghanistan border".  That doesn't quite describe an admirable character, now does it?  Life is serious, but we can certainly see irony and humor in an article and be able to laugh once in a while, even at the Bad Men.

Personal opinions

Everyone has their own opinions and I am sure we are all glad that we have the freedom to express them. Maybe you would react differently if someone you loved was killed by the likes of him or his followers.
