Owen Wilson Brings the Green... To a Strip Club
Posted by Joshua W. Jackson on June 15, 2007 - 7:18am.

Movie star Owen Wilson, having recently undergone a break-up with Kate Hudson, paid a visit to a popular strip club on the West Side of Manhattan this week. The actor brought the eco-celebrity craze to a whole new level by showing up not in a stretch limo or a huge SUV, but on a bicycle. In doing so, Wilson may have delivered the green trend to a whole different industry—experts expect to see sex workers on Segways in the coming weeks.

On Wednesday the California Coastal Commission refused Clint Eastwood, Tiger Woods, and Arnold Palmer permission to build a golf course in the Del Monte forest. The proposal, which called for the removal of more than 10,000 pine trees, "amounts to the wholesale destruction of the environment," according to the Coastal Commission. While Woods and Palmer have yet to comment on the rejection, Eastwood furrowed his brow and remarked that the Commission is surely asking itself if it feels lucky, adding in a direct address to his foes, "Huh? Do you, punk?"

Variety reports that the summer blockbuster Evan Almighty, starring Steve Carell and Morgan Freeman, is not only sharing marketing dollars with a green initiative, but also was the product of a low-carbon shoot. Unfortunately, in the event that filmmakers efforts somehow fail to prevent likely consequences of climate change such as flooding, the boat used in the movie actually will not be available for rescue missions.

Time Magazine recently described New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Arnold Schwarzenegger as "action heroes" for the steps they've taken in the fight against global warming. While publicly both men appeared satisfied with the compliment, rumor has it that The Governator is furious because he actually is an action hero, while Bloomberg, obviously, is not. Apparently, he wondered aloud how the Mayor would feel if the media had described Arnold as a politician.

Evan All Mighty?

Interesting that they are touting Evan, someone who drives a big, yellow Hummer, as being eco-friendly. Perhaps he has a life changing experience throughout the movie causing him to give up his destructive ways, however filming those scenes definately required that someone drive this Hummer needlessly through my city countless times... Maybe it ran on biofuel.

I'm so inspired now. No more stretched-out hummers -- I mean, Hummers -- for me when I go to the strip club.

Joshua really does dig up the dirt, I love it! Thanks again for the entertainment and the latest on our less than environmentally conscience media hogs.
