Think global, act local this by joining up with your local eco-activists to participate in one of three national events happening in the next week! Whether you want to relax in an urban park or see Thom Yorke of Radiohead perform, you need simply find where your local event’s happening to participate:

>> Relax in a temporary park on Park(ing) Day, an annual event where car parking spots get turned into parks. Simply find your city on this community map—then get involved on Fri., Sept. 18, whether by organizing in your own park or just joining a party at a park planned near you!

>> Join the beach cleanup for California Coastal Cleanup Day—or International Coastal Cleanup! Join the hundreds of thousands of volunteers on Sat., Sept., 19 to clean up the coast nearest you—and you’ll get a nice tan to reward you for your eco-activism.

>>Get to the new hard-hitting eco-documentary The Age of Stupid’s simulcast premier on Mon., Sept. 21! The main action begins September 21 at 7:30 pm Eastern at a solar tent in New York City—but the event will also be simulcast all over the U.S. and in more than 30 countries. Find a  participating theater near you (PDF) and buy a ticket to see not just the film, but a panel featuring former United Nations Secretary-General and Nobel Peace Prize winner Kofi Annan, The X Files‘ Gillian Anderson, and actor Pete Postlethwaite—plus a performance by Thom Yorke.
