Buddhist leader the Dalai Lama discusses the importance of showing affection and bonding with your child at the very earliest stage of the baby’s life. He warns that children who do not experience an outpouring of love at the beginning of their lives will grow up without a sense of emotional balance, and discipline, making them a danger to themselves, and to the world community.

Could Have Been a More Affectionate New Mother
by Anonymous on January 2, 2006 - 3:03am

Now that my daughter is 15 years old, I need to make up for the lack of affection she was not given in her first year of life. Naively, I accepted the advice to let her cry to get her on a strict schedule. As a baby, she cried many fierce, angry tears. It was frustrating then, and it is frustrating now as we parent her in her teen years.

As a father...

I think taking time out is very important to raising good goods. All my children are as effectionate back, I think in part, because of it.

It’s almost as important as a strict diet or discipline in my opinion.

It is always good to be happy. If diet coke really makes one happy, maybe one could have just a little......also, perhaps it is the sweet taste, and there could be a healthy substitue...some sweet cool herbal tea? or sweet Lassi? And things to make one relax? There are healthy things for this too. Perhaps Worry Free food supplement see www.mapi.com. It is a very good relaxer and healthy. Good luck dear mother.

This is so beautiful. I wish everyone could hear it. I am trying to be more affectionate and compassionate in my day to day living. One has to be aware. It is a very useful tool for fulfilling ones desires too.
