Looking for love in all the wrong places? Fear not, dateless one. Cupid
is striking the warrior pose and launching love arrows from his laptop
this Valentine’s Day.
New cyberdating spot
Gaia Soulmates
aims to hook people up with a more meaningful matchmaking service,
connecting singles with shared environmentally and socially conscious
values.
Soulmates offers an alternative to typical web-based cattle calls with
a profile screening process that moves beyond height, salary and eye
color. Members divulge how they feed their soul, favorite quotes and
heavier probes, such as “what are the most important lessons you’ve
learned from past relationships?”
Still skeptical? Sure, the single elephant in the room is shouting, “If
these cyber chumps are really that great, why do they need the Internet
to get a date?” Well, just because a person is centered, kind-hearted,
and smart, does not guarantee mack daddy-ness.
Gaia Community director Siona van Dijk explains that conscious singles
need the right place to look for Mr. or Ms. Right. “When it comes to
manifesting the love of your life, you can do all the inner
psychological work that you want, but at some point you need to go out
and say, ‘I’m available; I’m looking for my match.’ But where do you
go? There are not necessarily new age bars.” Another positive to
cyberdating is the avoidance of awkward mixed messages and social
blunders — like that time you hit on your
yoga instructor’s husband.
