Everybody recognizes India as one of the world’s best places to practice yoga. But what about Guelph, Canada? If you're looking for the best cities in the world for eco-tourism, exploration of revered temples, or yoga, you're in luck. Lonely Planet, the noted travel guide company, has created Bluelist, a global compendium and tandem website that offers lists such as The World's Top Places to Get Down… Dog, Dream Adventures an Eco-Charter’s Must Do List, a list of Indian Temples with a Side of Curry and a Swami, and lists covering other interesting travel topics. If you're just wondering why it is that you can't stay in one place, check out the 10 Reasons Why We Go list.
The Bluelist features the world’s best places as chosen by the travel company’s editors, writers, and travelers. They’ve even turned it into a verb: “To Bluelist something is the travel equivalent of “you should see my guy, he’s the best,’” reads the site.
The book has ‘618 Things To Do and Places To Go' for 2006-2007. It also includes lists like the best places in the world to get naked (a seawater pool in Ireland, Sauna in Finland, and Australia’s Maslin Beach to name a few), or the planet’s hippest hostels, and ‘emerging' destination cities. Launched with the book’s publication is the extensive Bluelist website which has users post their own lists. Until February 29, there’s even a contest brewing for a chance to become a Lonely Planet writer. Compose the Bluelist they like best and you’re in. Genius marketing and a lot of fun.
