Each January brings renewal, hope, redemption––and predictions. A troll of the web surfaced a slew of astrological, technological, political, and pop cultural forecasts. One site even has DIY (do-it-yourself) predictions––post your dreams, fears, fantasies. Below, I’ve found ten wild guesses and intuitive hunches as they relate to the spiritual realm. Heed at your own risk.

1) The angel to the prophet Daniel said 2006 is the “time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations.”

2) Astrologer Stephen Bendixson says an astrological “fixed grand cross” is triggering a war between idealism and realism in all arenas––”Beware the temptation to polarize and play out this drama in your relationships,” he writes. “If you can make the necessary adjustments within your own psyche, if you can contain the pressure, there is no need to enact the battle with others. “

3) A Vedic astrologer says the U.S. may see “Explosions, heat waves, hurricanes, stormy seas, especially in March, May, August and November.”

4) Impending cataclysms are a result the Earth “clearing and cleansing herself, bringing her huge body back into balance through constant corrections in her internal and external pressures,” says channeler Edna G. Frankl. She also notes a rise in spiritual competition and spiritual fatigue, which we must combat by aligning with “the flow of universal love.”

5) Yoga will continue to gain popularity, along with Pilates, Tai Chi and those inflatable rolly balls, says the American Council on Exercise.

6) Psychic Annie Stanton says a giant asteroid will hit the planet some time this year.

7) Aries should be patient and not expand operations of any kind until June. (To find your own free, good astrological forecast: astro.com)

8) “It will again be a very hot year, adding high seas and heat strokes to things to fear (16:8-9),” according to one person’s interpretation of the Bible.

9) “This is a year where dharma, or ‘calling,’ for each of us is within reach,” astrologer and yoga instructor Mark Wolz tells Beliefnet. “How surely we make that connection is a matter of aligning clear intent with our will.”

10) You will be kind, generous, tender, and brave as possible, according to me.

So Apocalyptic!
by RichardC on January 4, 2006 - 1:43pm

Dear Valerie,

Thank you for your own prediction (point 10). It made me feel a lot better! My own prediction for 2006 is the continued trend towards a general ‘awakening’. By this I mean more people moving towards a higher consciousness. Points 1, 3 and 4 will certainly help speed this up. However, a question I am struggling with is, can this trend spread throughout India and China? These are countries that at the dawn of middleclassdom and all the trappings that that brings i.e. cars, trainers (sneekers?) and brightly coloured plastic rubbish for their kids. Or is this awakening (transcending the insanity of consumerism, oil, war) only confined to the TV tired and debt ridden West?

Any thoughts?

Happy New Year!

Richard

Hi Richard, Thanks for your comment. I know, most predictions seem to focus on the nasty stuff. Not much different from turning on the news, I guess. As you know, many psychics, “lightworkers,” and the like do frame this planetary shake-down as a moving forward, a proper evolution toward global human enlightenment––darkest before the dawn and all that. I can’t really say anything about India and China. As a journalist, I just “channel” the channelers and researchers. Certainly, though, those countries are not being spared environmental catastrophe and political strife––their own evolve-now imperatives. I think whatever the rate of consumption and plastic and war and oil, we’re all in this together.

Happy New Year, Valerie

All in this together

Hi Valerie, Thanks for coming back to me. Maybe the there’ll be a ‘global’ movement towards enlightenment…however, in today’s traditional mindset, China and India have the most ‘to lose’ for it to happen now. Best of luck with the site. Cheers Richard
