If you name your emotions, you can tame them, according to new research that suggests why meditation works. Brain scans show that putting negative emotions into words calms the brain's emotion center.
Finally a way to scientifically prove meditation works! I spend as much time as I can using meditation techniques to calm my mind so it is in balance with my being. I like knowing that there are researchers out there proving we are on to something with mindful meditation. Thank goodness for MRIs, they rock!
I must say that I always sincerely knew that medidation was effective, I guess it's the whole wholistic mindset I've learned to develop. I suppose it's time to start naming those negative emotions to let them go.
I reallyy need to start giving myself some time to just sit and relax and just try to put my mind on blank for a chance, and get in touch with my emotions so I can feel more composed and be able to have a tight grasp of them.
I find it hard to take time to meditate or even stay awake while meditating (not suppose to fall asleep, or so I've heard) but I have to breathe so deep brething is easy enough. Sometimes if I have a hard time falling asleep because my mind is too busy, I'll tell myself I'm breathing in peace and tranquility, and exhaling tension and stress. After I do that for a few minutes I count to 8 while breathing in and 8 while breathing out. Do that 8 times and I'm usually asleep.
Not that deep breathing is meditating but it's on the right track and it is definitely relaxing. It can quite my mind most nights. I even catch myself doing it during long meetings to help me stay focused.
I too find it hard to meditate or prectice mindfulness. I start out with good intentions, but I have a hard time letting my mind go. Good news for those who can.
