Start Small: Tackle One Room at a Time

If you can't do a lot, start by doing something little in your home. Some people get overwhelmed by sudden changes, so they don't make any. Other people keep putting off making changes in their lives until they can "really do it right." And some other people simply don't trust that a little bit goes a long way.

Just ask a chef what a little spice can do to an entire dish. Ask an athlete what a slight change in focus can do to their swing or their passing game. In your own life, think about how it feels to come home to your bed already made.

So start small. You don't have to do it all today. But since we are thinking holistically, think about your larger goal, and then break down the process of achieving it into small, bite-sized chunks.

Tackle one room at a time. If the room is too much, start with a closet. Or clear out under your bed. Or clean up your desk. If you can create one area in your life that you feel good about and can learn to maintain, you will find that you have extra energy to make those more daunting changes. Just take it one step at a time.

The little victories will bring you courage and confidence that you can use to bring change to your life. So start small. You might be amazed to remember that every large task is made up of hundreds of small little steps.
